Coastal Living Selects River Dunes for 2007 Idea HouseOn May 18th, a crowd of over 200 gathered beside Grace Harbor at River Dunes for the official announcement by Coastal Living of the community's selection as site of the 2007 10th Anniversary Idea House (pictured above). The magazine hand selected River Dunes for this honor from among the finest coastal communities in the country. The Idea House, showcasing the finest coastal home innnovation, decor, and construction, will be open for tours from mid-September through December. The November issue of the magazine will feature the Idea House and River Dunes, bringing national recognition to the new coastal community. The house, designed by Historical Concepts, River Dunes' architects and town planners, sits on Grace Harbor, adjacent to the Harbor Club. Built in the community's distinctive maritime village style, the house adjoins six of the communities' guest cottages, one of which will become an onshore base for Hatteras Yachts. Hatteras President Mark Harakal noted that "River Dunes is a world-class community and Hatteras Yachts is the leading manufacturer of world-class motoryachts and sportfishing vessels...This is the first time Hatteras has associated our name with another company." From the Bait BucketFish Tales from River Dunes' own Andrew Baysden When you get a good window of weather to head offshore from River Dunes to the blue water of the Gulf Stream, you've just gotta drop what youÕre doing and go. Just a few days ago the window was open and I headed off-shore with friends. I'm always happy to volunteer as First Mate, because that's where all the action is. Mates have to watch how the baits are swimming, which lures they are pulling, and how the ÒspreadÓ looks (how all the baits are swimming together). When the dolphin or mahi fishing is really hot, the action can heat up quickly. These acrobatic delicacies love nothing more than eating a freshly rigged ballyhoo, and it keeps a Mate busy getting lines out and keeping things organized. As soon as our lines went out that day, I knew we were in luck. Fresh dolphin and wahoo on the grill for dinner!
