River Dunes Corporation

It was known early on that River Dunes location on the ICW and the famed sailing waters of the Pamlico Sound and Oriental, NC would make this a "must see" North Carolina Waterfront community. With over 1300 acres and 14 miles of waterfront property and shoreline, we felt a responsibility to enhance the natural beauty and character of the area. We sought out the best-in-class partners to reintroduce maritime traditions through coastal architecture and amenities. Boating has provided a way of life for this area through the centuries and as it should be, it is the heart of the community. River Dunes Corporation is committed to building community. The 400-slip marina, Harbor club, guest cottages, harbor walk, and fiber - optic are in place. Property owners here have the ability to enjoy the community now and can look forward to welcoming friends and family into this truly special place for years to come.

Partners

Over 26 different agencies and departments assisted in the initial land-planning for the community. The collaborative effort ensured that the development of the 1300 acre River Dunes peninsula would be mindful of nursery habitats, estuaries, watersheds and native species. Nearly 1/3 of the peninsula will remain undeveloped through conservation easements and low-density development.

River Dunes has partnered with three of the area's premier builders. The builders have visited renowned communities across the Southeast to study the coastal architecture. Their commitment to classic craftsmanship and execution of the vision has set them apart.

Historical Concepts

With a vision of crafting a sustainable North Carolina coastal community reminiscent of a walkable historic fishing village, River Dunes turned to Historical Concepts to help them establish the high standards and consistency of quality and design seen throughout the development.

High Grove Partners

An important founding principle of this development team was sustainable development practices. We knew we were in a special place. There was a total commitment to preserve the environmentally sensitive areas with over 400 acres that will be in conservation within the 1300 acre peninsula. Embarq

EMBARQ has equipped River Dunes with a state-of-the-art fiber optic infrastructure designed to allow every River Dunes resident to connect to the Internet at very high speeds. It also provides video services to the residents of River Dunes. With FTTP technology, residents will receive data and video services from a single communications provider. FTTP technology removes speed restrictions and supports increased high-speed data services for today's world, as well as new and exciting broadband services planned for the future.

The Hinckley Company

In 1928 Henry R. Hinckley of Southwest Harbor, Maine, began building wooden workboats designed for the rigors of Down East fishing and cruising. During World War II, Hinckley built more than 500 picket boats and yawls for U.S. forces. Postwar, Hinckley became America's leading producer of wooden sailboats. Hinckley introduced the Picnic Boat in 1994. Although jet drives had been proven on military and fishing vessels, the Picnic Boat pioneered jet propulsion in a semi-custom luxury yacht. The quality of their boats and the skill of their craftsmen are without equal in the boating industry.
