Women on the Water Sailing Weekend

Want to spend a gorgeous early fall weekend on the water? Want to learn more about sailing? Here's your chance. River Dunes is hosting a Women on the Water Weekend on September 10-11, 2010. The cost of the class is minimal, and all levels of experience are welcome. River Dunes has accommodations available in harborside Guest Cottages and weekend participants and their families will be guest members of the Harbor Club while at River Dunes. MS Bike-a-Thon at River Dunes

Location: River Dunes
This annual September event is coordinated by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Eastern Carolina Chapter. The two day event draws thousands of cyclists, volunteers, family members and fans to eastern North Carolina each fall. River Dunes will host the lunch stop on Sunday for the 75 mile and century riders.

The coastal location, flat landscape, and miles of rural roads allow every level of cyclist to participate and enjoy their choice of a 30, 50, 75, or 100 mile route. All routes are fully supported with rest stops every 10-15 miles, support and gear vehicles (SAGS), medics, and bike mechanics. All four routes start and end at Union Point Park, in New Bern NC on Saturday and Sunday.

Shelton Leadership Institute Dinner

Harbor Club members are invited to join former General Hugh Shelton, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for a dinner in support of an endowment for his Leadership Institute benefiting students at NC State University. General Shelton will speak and answer pre-submitted questions on wide-ranging topics. This will surely be one of the highlights of the year at River Dunes!

Carolina Chamber Music Festival

The 2010 Carolina Chamber Music Festival features a lineup of world-class musicians who appear internationally as soloists and are affiliated with leading ensembles including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Help us Trim the Tree at the Harbor Club. We'll provide the holiday cheer and a bare tree - you bring a favorite family picture or two or three to hang on the tree. We'll provide supplies (ribbon, glitter, etc.) for decorating your photos, but you are encouraged to make it your own. We'll fill in the holes with ornaments, but we want everyone to be on the River Dunes tree this year!

Christmas Candlelight Tours

Experience an eighteenth-century candlelit Christmas celebration. The Evening program includes a tour through Tryon Palace (performances by Tryon Palace's Fife and Drum Corps and Jonkonnu troupe, and an assortment of other performers.
