The Travels of Liberdade

The Arrington's, slip leasers in River Dunes Grace Harbor, recounted their cruising adventures on Liberdade, a 54' Ocean Alexander Trawler, in the September issue of Passagemaker magazine. We thank them for sharing the great article and their excellent tips for cruisers with us! Read the article.

Bob and Dori share their reasons for choosing River Dunes as their Home Port:

"Dori and I built Liberdade to cruise and live aboard for extended periods during the year, but there are a few times in the year when Liberdade needs a secure marina, which is why we chose Grace Harbor Marina at River Dunes. Located on a well protected basin right off the ICW, River Dunes is one of the best protected harbors on the East Coast. Its location on a deep well marked channel right off the ICW makes easy to get to as well. River Dunes central location in one of North Carolina’s prime boating areas also gives us access to plenty of top notch service facilities near by.

Not to be content with the first class facility they built, River Dunes has also continued to improve, offering new services like the recently begun Grace Harbor Water Sports. The Water Sports group now offers sailing lessons, kayak tours and a complete list of boater’s concierge services. Rich Beliveau and his staff do a great job of keeping the facility in great shape. Whether you come for the beautiful club house, the pool or a secure slip on their floating piers, there is no better place to spend a night or the season than Grace Harbor Marina at River Dunes!"

Thank you for sharing the article and special thanks for the kind words about our marina!

Dragon Boat Races at River Dunes

The day was perfect for racing Dragon Boats at Grace Harbor in River Dunes this past Saturday. Eighteen teams competed in crews of 20 rowers, a drummer, and a steerperson. Teams came from all over the eastern United States, and included a boat of cancer survivors, one of high school students, and several manned by members of the military.

River Dunes was well represented by a group of enthusiastic property owners and friends. They dubbed themselves the River Dunes Dragons and sported custom-designed t-shirts combining the dragon and the River Dunes burgee. Well-wishers lined the docks and the Harbor wall to cheer their teams on. A big Well Done to the organizers, participants and visitors - it was a great event!

More New Construction Photos

New homes are coming out of the ground all around the neighborhoods of River Dunes. Along Eastcove Way, the Clark home is already showing foundation work. Built by M.E. Maher Construction, this home is going to take advantage of some great views of Broad Creek.

Another really busy neighborhood this summer is Broadwaters. There are several new homes in various stages of architectural review, engineering and construction. The Lassen family has cleared a building pad for their new carriage home on Homestead Road. Additionally, the Tikkalas have marked trees to save on their homesite on Parris Creek in Broadwaters. Both of these homes will be built by Watermark Custom Homes of North Carolina.

We'll continue to update the blog with information and pictures of our new custom homes and amenities as they progress, so keep watching us grow!

Grand Opening and Dedication of the Fire Station

A recent Saturday was a very special occasion for residents of River Dunes and the surrounding area of Pamlico County, with the celebration and dedication of the new Fire Sub-station on Orchard Creek Road. Manned by the wonderful volunteers of Southeast Pamlico Volunteer Fire Department, this facility will provide services to this entire area of the County.

Chief Al Spruill spoke to the large crowd of neighbors and well-wishers, and a barbecue lunch was enjoyed by all who attended.

The festivities included the traditional firefighters' "inauguration" of a new station.

Even the littlest future firefighter enjoyed the celebration honoring our dedicated volunteer firemen, and their great accomplishment for residents of SE Pamlico.

Construction Activity at River Dunes

Today's blog entry will be the first in a series over the next few days detailing some of the exciting new construction in River Dunes. In addition to the building going on in the Harbor Village, there are new custom homes breaking ground in Oyster Point and Broadwaters, as well as the first new home in the Summerplace neighborhood nearing completion. It's going to be a busy summer!

The Provision Company, located on Harborside Road, just across from the Harbor Club and Marina, is on track for a projected completion in early fall. This addition of retail and gathering space for boaters, cottage guests and residents will be a welcome addition to the Harbor Village.

Watch tomorrow for updates and photos from the new home in Summerplace - what a beautiful view!

River Dunes Residents Help Out at Clean Up the Neuse Day

An energetic group of River Dunes residents pitched in to help out at the recent Neuse River Cleanup Day. These folks volunteered their time to help clean up the Neuse shoreline in areas just outside of River Dunes. Many thanks to our wonderful residents who are great stewards of the beautiful waterfront Mother Nature has provided us here in coastal North Carolina!
